Marriage

Marriage Matters, Fellowship’s marriage ministry, focuses on three primary areas of development:

• Prepare – Preparing couples for Christ-centered lifelong marriage
• Enrich – Proactively helping couples improve and enrich their relationships
• Restore – Helping restore troubled marriages to Biblical and relational health

Prepare

Couple-to-Couple Premarital Mentoring brings the premarital couple together with an experienced couple with a solid – not perfect – marriage who want to help younger couples build a strong foundation for their marriage. Mentoring at Fellowship involves four to six informal meetings on a schedule determined by the couples. Your mentors want to hear your story and share theirs in a series of open and transparent conversations. To get started, the couple will complete an online relationship assessment that provides them and their mentors a snapshot of their relationship in 8-10 key areas. This report and an informal, encouraging relationship with your mentors provides the basis for the mentoring experience.

For couples who have not been previously married and do not have children from a previous relationship, we use the Couple Checkup relationship assessment. You can get more information on the Couple Checkup http://www.couplecheckup.com.

Previously Married Couples considering re-marriage and those who have child(ren) from a previous relationship are invited to join a separate premarital track that includes re-married mentor couples. While the areas covered are largely the same, the mentors also address challenges that are unique to stepfamilies in the first 3-5 years. We use the Prepare-Enrich relationship assessment to take advantage of additional emphasis on re-marriage and stepfamily issues. You can find out more about Prepare-Enrich at http://www.prepare-enrich.com. We understand you have all the challenges of a first marriage plus some important additional challenges, and we want to help.

Enrich

Newlywed Community Groups cover an 18-24 month curriculum designed to address issues faced by newlyweds during the first two to five years of marriage. The goal is to help couples build Christ-centered marriages and authentic relationships with other newlyweds by sharing their experiences in the first years of marriage. Leader couples are experienced couples in healthy – not perfect – marriages that want to share their experiences and offer the benefit of what they have learned. If you would like to connect with other newlywed couples to have fun, build friendships and apply Biblical principles to your marriage, we invite you to join a Newlywed Community Group. The groups are open to everyone and we have groups forming now.

Marriage conferences and events to equip and encourage couples are scheduled periodically. Schedules and event details are posted on the frame to the left of your screen. Scroll through the information now to see what’s happening. If you are a Facebook user, join our FBC Facebook page to see posts on currently scheduled events for all ministry areas.
